Health and Human Services is turning Blue on Friday April 6!
April is a time for action on behalf of children and families according to leaders of Inyo County Health and Human Services.
“All of us want to live in a world where no child is harmed by abuse and neglect, says Marilyn Mann, Health and Human Services Director. “And if we are a Community in Unity, one where neighbors, teachers, doctors, employers and community service providers are united to help parents’ provide safe and healthy homes for their children, we can prevent child abuse and neglect.”
Inyo County Health & Human Services – Public Health and Prevention staff wear blue for kids as part of Child Abuse Awareness month
This year, the Health and Human Services Department is participating in Wear Blue Day on Friday, April 6, in support of all children in Inyo County. All children deserve great childhoods because our children are our future.
“We have the power to make a difference in the lives of children if we become one voice for many families,” says Anna Scott, HHS Deputy Director of Public Health and Prevention. “A Community in Unity is one where residents care and watch out for each other, become leaders in healthy community activities, and advocate for family service programs.”
Pinwheels for Prevention can be picked up at many community agencies across Inyo County, including the First 5 office! Stop by to pick yours up!
We all have a role to play in healthy child development and the prevention of child abuse. Simple, every-day actions make a difference. Whether it’s volunteering at a local pre- or after-school program, babysitting for an overburdened family in your neighborhood, or signing up to be a mentor for a child, there are many things you can do to help promote great childhoods and the prevention of abuse and neglect!
With support from the community, parents increase their capacity to provide safe and healthy homes for their children. By doing simple acts to support children and their parents — or give to those organizations and agencies that do — we have the power to prevent child abuse. We can be one voice for many families. We can be a Community in Unity.
